Colosseum - where gladiators fought for glory

Rome, the eternal city, owes much of its fame to the classical era of the Roman Empire. The Colosseum is the most visited monument in Rome and it is well worth the hype. Due to its popularity we highly recommend to book tickets in advance in order to avoid long waiting time. The admission ticket starts at 19€, however it is really difficult and even confusing to get those from the official website, in Trip you can find various options of tickets, for accessing the Colosseum only, or combined with the visit to the Roman Forum, the big esplanade with Roman ruins that begins right next to Colosseum. Once inside the Colosseum you can also opt to upgrade your ticket to include access to the arena, which gives you a different perspective of the monument, as if you were a gladiator part of the show on the main arena. The second floor holds a display of the history and architecture of this building as well as a gift shop with interesting souvenirs to buy. 🏛️ Colosseum 📍Piazza del Colosseo, 1, 00184 Roma RM, Italy 🕘 8:30 to 19:15 (summer months) or until 3:30 or 4pm (winter) 🎟️ from 19€ and upwards ☝️ tip: go to visit the outside at night when it is dark, there are a lot less people and the building is light up, really magic.
