Armenian Church on Akdamar Island

A beautiful Armenian church on Akdamar Island in Lake Van, Turkey's largest lake. It was founded in the 10th century, over a thousand years ago, but the carvings on the exterior walls and the paintings on the interior walls are in relatively good condition. It takes about 30 minutes by boat from the opposite shore. I often talked to people on the boat, and they all told me they were Kurdish. #ruins #secludedplace #greatview #islandhopping
