I am a sea-viewing and wave-listening tour + global traveler, please follow me!
(Published the 1634th travel shot in 56 countries/regions in 5 continents and 1004 cities)
Malta is a true island, and you can see the sea in the center of the island.
There are many extraordinary landscapes here, but the best one is probably the Barrakka Gardens, located in the center of the capital Valletta, divided into Upper Barrakka Gardens and Lower Barrakka Gardens.
The Lower Barrakka Gardens mainly consist of Roman-style marble temples. The famous Upper Barrakka Gardens are located above the grand harbor, with a free elevator connecting the two places. The Upper Barrakka Gardens are an excellent place to view the grand harbor and the opposite 'Three Sisters Castle'.
On the fortress area below the Upper Barrakka Gardens, there is a row of 11 ancient cannons. Today, there is still a performance of firing ancient cannons at exactly 12 noon every day, which is worth seeing.
Best Viewpoint in Malta - Upper Barrakka Gardens
Located at the southeast corner of the main island of Malta, the Upper Barrakka Gardens, also known as the Italian Lookout, is the best viewpoint in Valletta, the capital of Malta, and a must-visit place for every tourist visiting Malta.
❤️Recommended reasons
🔶The Barrakka Gardens are divided into upper and lower parts. If time is limited, you can only come to the upper garden, where the excellent location and breathtaking views will definitely not disappoint you. Especially the tall arches and huge arched windows in the garden, full of momentum, make people can't stop the camera shutter.
🔶This place was originally the private garden of the Italian knights and was also part of the Valletta defense fortifications. The garden is filled with marble slabs recording the history of Malta, as well as statues and sculptures commemorating some great people, such as Einstein and Churchill. The Lower Barrakka Garden is mainly a Roman-style marble temple.
🔶In the Upper Barrakka Garden, you can have a panoramic view of the Three Sisters City across the harbor: Vittoriosa, Cospicua, and Senglea. You can also overlook the long coastline and historical buildings along the southeast coast of Valletta, as well as the entire Malta port. The azure Mediterranean Sea makes this beautiful scenery look like a painting.
After enjoying the scenery, you can spend one euro to take the elevator directly to the coast at the foot of the mountain and take a boat directly to the Three Sisters City on the opposite side.
📸Shooting Tips
1️⃣There are always many tourists here, if you want to shoot the garden and arches with fewer people, try to get up early or before sunset.
2️⃣This is a great place to shoot the sunset.
3️⃣Telephoto and wide-angle lenses are useful here. The telephoto lens can pull to the Three Sisters City on the opposite side, and the wide-angle lens can shoot arches, etc.
4️⃣It is recommended to wear brightly colored clothes, which can contrast sharply with the yellow buildings and the color of the sea.
🎫Tickets: Free
🚗Transportation:
- Valletta is mostly uphill and downhill. It is recommended to directly locate the Upper Barrakka Gardens and take a taxi.
- If you drive by yourself, there is a parking lot next to the garden, and the parking space is tight during the peak season.
- It takes about ten minutes to walk from the main gate of Valletta.

Old Mint Street Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Isn't this a scene from Inception?
I was shocked a long time ago by a photo of a highly folded street like Inception on the Internet, and at that time I planted a wish seed in my heart to go to Malta in the future. It turns out that the photo of the street with a huge slope was taken from this Old Mint Street.
🌈Background
Old Mint Street can be said to be the most frequently appearing characteristic old street in the ancient city of Valletta. The mint, translated into mint, originally means coinage. Because this street was the location of the coin minting factory during the Knights period, the name came from this.
Although there are many steep streets in the ancient city of Valletta, Old Mint Street is the most characteristic and photogenic one. This long street that can be seen at a glance forms a U-shaped slope along the terrain, and the Baroque-style dome church standing at the end of the street, and the Mediterranean background of the blue sky and blue sea in the distance, make almost every visitor to Valletta. They will definitely come here to take a most iconic group photo, which is considered to have really been to Malta.
📸Shooting Tips
1️⃣The best photo angle is at the other end where you can see the dome church
2️⃣Avoid shooting when the light ratio is strong at noon
3️⃣The stone steps on the street are also very good for shooting
4️⃣Vehicles are allowed to drive on Old Mint Street, so be especially careful when taking pictures at intersections to avoid vehicles and not affect traffic.
5️⃣In addition to Mint Street, Valletta has many steep streets that are very beautiful and can see the sea at a glance.
📍Navigation: Old Mint Street
🚗Traffic:
If you take a bus or taxi to Valletta, it is recommended to enter from the Fountain of the Son of the Sea, which is the main gate of the old city of Valletta. Then stroll over slowly.

The address is 255 Triq Sant' Orsla, Il-Belt Valletta. It's actually a hotel and the sea is right across.
Mdina ancient city 🚪 There are horse-drawn carriages at the entrance, clearly priced at 35 euros for a tour.
The uncle is super enthusiastic and will stop to let us take pictures when he sees a beautiful place. You can see the popular flower wall if you keep walking.
🏨 Accommodation is at Hilton, the scenery is very good. The indoor and outdoor pool views are also great. There are many room types to choose from. The Blue Elephant 🐘 Thai restaurant downstairs is highly recommended. The overall environment is also good.
Afternoon tea at the hotel is 31 euros, a very beautiful price.

A historical waterfront worth visiting
The Valletta Waterfront, located in Valletta, Malta, has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. Reflecting the joyous spirit that summer bestows.

As laughter and merriment fill the air nearby.
From sunrise to sunset, a lively coastal scene,
Where dreams and memories in the sunlight gleam.

St. John's Co-Cathedral Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
St John’s Cathedral, lavishly stunning!
Valletta is home to some of the most architecturally-beautiful churches in Malta including St John’s Co-Cathedral which is host to some of Malta’s finest paintings.
possibly Malta’s most famous church is St. John's Co-Cathedral, located in the centre of the city, just off Republic street. It was built by the Maltese architect Girolamo Cassar for the Knights of St John between 1573 and 1578. The cathedral is known for its stunning interior, typical of the high-Baroque period. The church is richly decorated with paintings, sculptures, and tapestries by famous artists such as Caravaggio and Mattia Preti. It also features eight chapels dedicated to the different Langues of the Order of St John.
