City of Arts and Sciences

The City of Arts and Sciences is a complex of modern buildings located on the dry riverbed of the Turia River in Valencia, Spain. The complex includes a science museum, theater, performance hall, and an aquarium. The combination of education and entertainment was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. This area was originally on the outskirts of the city, but the construction of the City of Arts and Sciences has driven rapid development in the local economy, tourism, and real estate, making it a new high-end residential area and an important tourist attraction in Valencia. A large shopping center with a high-end hotel, Aqua, has been built opposite the City of Arts and Sciences, as well as a new branch of Spain's largest department store chain, El Corte Inglés. On the other side of the City of Arts and Sciences, there is a Carrefour shopping center with a cinema and boutique street, which is now even more popular.
