It was originally called "New Uttaradit Station" to solve the problem of the narrowness of the old Uttaradit Railway Station and was the center of northern railways. It was designed by **Mr. Prayoon Srisamruan** in a Thai architectural style. In 1960, the name was changed to "Sila Asan" according to the resolution of the State Railway of Thailand to reflect local identity and cancel the use of the original name that could cause confusion. Later in 2006, the station was developed into **Container Yard Center** to support border trade with Laos in accordance with government policy. #### 2. **Current use** - **Passenger transport**: Sila Asan Station is an important point on the northern railway line. (Bangkok-Chiang Mai) There are special express trains such as **Uttarawithi Train No. 9/10** to pick up and drop off passengers. - **Freight**: Serves as **the main container center of the North**, supporting cross-border freight and logistics systems. - **Distance and travel time**: 487.52 km from Bangkok.
