[Japan Heritage Ushiku Chateau] Not just the Ushiku Buddha, but the history of the birth of Japanese wine

Ushiku Chateau was opened in 1903 by Kamiya Denbei as Japan's first full-scale winery. Many people may also know Kamiya Bar (Denki Bran) in Asakusa, but both were founded by Mr. Kamiya. The building has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and has also been registered as a Japanese Heritage Site along with grape-producing Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Within the grounds of Ushiku Chateau, there is a restaurant that was converted from a wine cellar, and a memorial hall that was converted from a fermentation room. The first floor of the memorial hall features large wine fermentation barrels, the second floor is a museum on Kamiya Denjiro and the wine factory, and the first basement floor is a wine cellar. It is well maintained, and you can learn about the history of the birth of Japanese wine. Visiting the grounds of Ushiku Chateau and the memorial hall is free, so those who come by car only have to pay for parking, and those who don't have cars can visit everything for free, making it an excellent value facility.
