European larch

#hellohalloween European larch (Larix decidua) is a significant tree species in the mountainous region of Tyrol, located in both Austria and northern Italy (South Tyrol). Unlike most conifers, it is deciduous, with its needles turning a spectacular golden-yellow in autumn before they fall. Ultental (Val d'Ultimo): A group of three ancient larches, known locally as the "Urlärchen," are famous natural monuments near the village of St. Gertraud. One fell during a storm in the 1930s, and its rings suggested an age of 2,000 years, though a more recent 2004 estimate puts the remaining trees at about 850 years old.
