#TravelRecordsAsia Genghis Khan Square, located in the center of Ulaanbaatar, is the political and administrative center of Mongolia, surrounded by the Government Palace in front, the Mongolian National Opera House, the central post office, banks, and labor unions. The imposing Government Palace is the Mongolian parliament building, and the exterior of the building alone is a sight to behold. First of all, in the center of the square stands the huge black statue of Genghis Khan, the pride of the Mongolian people. On either side are statues of the two khans (kings), Ogedei and Kublai Khan. And in the center of the square is an equestrian statue of Sukhbaatar, the revolutionary who laid the foundations of modern Mongolia. The spacious square has an appearance that is reminiscent of a socialist country.
