Mahawanaram Temple

Wat Mahawanaram✨ is an ancient temple in Ubon Ratchathani. It was originally called Wat Pa Luang Mani Chot Si Sawat and later called Wat Pa Yai. It was founded in 1779 and changed its name to Wat Mahawanaram in 1941 until today. It was completed in 1807 at the same time as the construction of Phra Chao Yai Inthaplang, the principal Buddha image inside the temple. It is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, in the Lao style, made of brick and mortar, lacquered and gilded. It is 3 meters wide and 5 meters high. There is also a chapel decorated with beautiful stucco patterns. If you come to Ubon, you must stop by to pay homage. We went during the New Year's festival.
