Wat Mahawanaram (Phra Chao Yai Inpang)

Wat Mahawanaram, or as most Ubon people call it, Wat Pa Yai, is the home of Phra Chao Yai Intraplang, which is highly revered by Ubon residents because it is a Buddha image that has been a part of Ubon for a long time. Currently, there are many developments, such as the presence of Thao Wessuwan and the Naga at the back of the Phra Chao Yai Intraplang shrine, and another feature is that it is considered one of the most beautiful temples in Ubon Ratchathani. Phra Chao Yai Intraplang, the principal Buddha image in the shrine, is a beautiful Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude. It is 6 cubits wide at the lap and 10 cubits high from the pedestal to the topknot. It was made of bricks and cement, lacquered and gilded. It was completed on the full moon day of the fifth month, which falls on a Sunday in April at 3:00 p.m., as stated in the stone inscription in front of the Buddha image.
