Above the Clouds: My Unforgettable Journey to the Summit of Fansipan

Climbing Fansipan was honestly one of the highlights of my trip to Vietnam. I’d heard so much about it being the “Roof of Indochina,” towering at over 3,000 meters, and I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. I decided to take the cable car, because, let's face it, I wasn’t quite ready for a full-on trek. But even the cable car ride was incredible. As it glided up the mountain, I was glued to the window, watching the endless terraces of rice fields, thick green valleys, and little waterfalls that seemed hidden away between the peaks. Then we went even higher, and suddenly we were above the clouds, which felt unreal—like we were floating in another world. Once we got to the station near the summit, there was still a bit of a climb up the stairs to reach the very top. Even though I was a little winded, it was totally worth it. The view from the summit? Absolutely breathtaking. You look out and all you can see is a sea of mountains and valleys, with clouds beneath you. It’s the kind of view that makes you stop and just take it all in. It felt peaceful up there, almost like the world had slowed down for a moment. What made it even more special was the giant Buddha statue and the pagoda at the top. It wasn’t just about reaching the highest point, but also feeling a sense of calm and reflection in that space. I stayed up there for a while, just appreciating the beauty and the stillness.
