Spring trip to Tromsø, Norway

Tromsø, belonging to Norway, is the capital of Troms og Finnmark county, located on the island of Tromsø off the northwest coast of mainland Norway, covering an area of 2521 square kilometers. It is the largest town within the Arctic Circle in Norway. As of 2018, the population reached 75,600. The midnight sun period lasts from late May to late July, and the polar night period from late November to the following January. Tromsø Island is connected to the mainland of Norway by a large bridge and serves as the center for administration, communication, culture, and education in northern Norway, as well as an important polar fishing port. In addition to fish processing, there are shipbuilding, brewing, high-tech, and other industries, and it is equipped with an airport. The area is a starting point and support base for Arctic expeditions, with a meteorological station, an aurora research institute, and the University of Tromsø. Founded in the mid-13th century, Tromsø became a town in 1794, and by the end of the 9th century, it had become a major trading center and exploration base. During World War II, the Norwegian government temporarily resided here.
