Treviso, Italy 🔶 Strolling in the Water City

There are winding canals in the center of the town. When you come to Treviso, you must visit the Fontana delle Tette (Fountain of the Breasts). In the 16th century, in order to celebrate the inauguration of the new mayor, the breasts of this fountain would spray wine for three consecutive days. One breast would spray red wine and the other would spray white wine. All citizens can come and drink free wine and celebrate together. This tradition was discontinued until 1797, after the decline of the Republic of Venice. This fountain is the most representative artifact of Treviso. The original work was created in 1559. The real body is already very dilapidated and is now stored in a glass box in Piazza dei Signori, the most important square in Treviso, for public viewing. When you come to Treviso, you will find that many houses have these circular arcades, which is also the architectural feature here.
