Wat Buppharam, an ancient temple in Trat Province

Wat Buppharam is the oldest and most famous temple in Trat Province. It was built since the Ayutthaya period. The name of Wat Buppharam comes from the fact that this area used to be filled with various kinds of flowers, which is the origin of the name Buppharam, which means a flower garden temple. The interesting thing in the temple is probably the mural paintings in the ordination hall, which consist of patterns of the Buddha in the preaching posture, the pattern of jasmine flowers, the ceiling is shaped like stars with lotus petals inside. There is the principal Buddha image, "Luang Pho To", which is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, believed to have been built in the Ayutthaya period. And the Reclining Buddha Vihara, which is a single-storey building, inside enshrines a reclining Buddha.
