A Day at the Magical Trakai Island Castle 🏰✨

Today, I took a frosty day trip from #vilnius to #trakai, a charming lakeside town steeped in history. The highlight of the visit was of course the iconic Trakai Island Castle, perched on an island in the middle of Lake Galvė. Today of all days, the clear December sky beautifully mirrored the castle in the surrounding water. I wandered through the castle's halls, learning about its rich history as a medieval stronghold and a seat of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Afterwards, I visited a local eatery called Kybnylar and treated myself to a local Karaim specialty, kibinai—delicious stuffed pastries enjoyed by the local minority group.
