#thegatesofdawn is one of the most visited shrines in #vilnius that is famous not only in $Lithuania but also abroad, worshipped by the representatives of other creeds too.
This is the only surviving gate of the first original five gates in the city wall that was built between 1503 and 1522.
The painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, in the Chapel of the Gates of Dawn is known all over the world. The picture, which is also called “Vilnius Madonna”, was painted in 17th century. It is painted in the Renaissance style, in tempera on oak boards, later repainted in oil.
Since the middle of the 17th century it has been said to have miracle-working powers.

One's of the #most famous #vilnius landmarks is #st.AnneChurch that starts with the alleged construction in the 14th century but the current Gothic masterpiece is believed to have been built between 1495 and 1500 to a design by the Bohemian architect Benedikt Rejt (1453-1534), most famous for designing parts of Prague Castle.
Visiting in 1812, Napoleon famously noted that he wanted to take the building back to Paris on the palm of his hand #lithuania

A realm of medieval charm.
#2024wish
Two years ago, my journey led me to the Trakai Island Castle in Vilnius, Lithuania, a place where history and fantasy converge. As I strolled along the cobblestone paths, the castle's red-brick façade emerged, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Galvė. The air was filled with a sense of timelessness, transporting me to a fairytale landscape.
Crossing the wooden drawbridge, I entered a realm of medieval charm. The castle's interiors, adorned with artifacts and echoes of the past, revealed the rich tapestry of Lithuania's history. Climbing the castle walls offered panoramic views of the idyllic surroundings, enhancing the enchantment of this historical gem. Trakai Island Castle became not just a destination but a vivid chapter in my personal fairytale of exploration.
In 2024, I wish to visit Langkawi.
Trakai castle, Lithuania. Just 30 minutes train ride from Vilnius you can discover this beautiful castle built in a little island in a lake. With less than half an hour of walk from the train station you can have this wonderful view, and just with some more minute you can arrive in front of it and, if you want, visit it!!

Serenade of the Square: Watching Life Unfold
Vilnius Cathedral, situated in Lithuania's capital city, has a rich history that dates back to the 14th century. Originally constructed as a Gothic-style church, it underwent several reconstructions and additions over the centuries, resulting in its Baroque appearance today. The cathedral has played a significant role in Lithuanian history, hosting coronations, funerals, and various religious ceremonies. It remains an iconic symbol of cultural and religious heritage in Vilnius.
Amidst Vilnius Cathedral's timeless grace,
I find a seat, a peaceful space,
Bathed in the warmth of the afternoon sun,
Watching life's symphony, moments spun.
People pass by, their stories unfold,
In this vibrant square, hearts are consoled,
Laughter and chatter, a lively dance,
I savor each moment, this charming trance.

I don't believe anyone has been to 🇱🇹, this small and beautiful country by the Baltic Sea.
During my previous trip to the three Baltic countries, I really enjoyed Lithuania as a niche destination. When visiting Lithuania, of course, you have to go to Vilnius. I have summarized a guide to the attractions in the old town of Vilnius. Just read this article and you'll have enough information!

📍Vilnius Cathedral:
The local church is very important, with a Baroque-style interior that was once a wooden Gothic style. The building is well-preserved, and the murals and organ inside are also exquisite.
·
📍Dawn Gate:
The city gate of the old town, which is also the only well-preserved gate among the nine gates that once existed, leads you into the old town of Vilnius once you step inside.
·
📍St. Anne's Church:
A small and beautiful brick-red church, with delicate lines and corner towers. It is said that Napoleon once wanted to "move" the entire building back to France because of its beauty.
·
📍Uzupis:
Known as the "land across the river", this place used to be a gathering place for hippies, so the enthusiasm and cheerful style can be seen from graffiti, sculptures, etc.
·
📍Gediminas Tower:
It is said that Grand Duke Gediminas had a dream of a steel wolf here, and then ordered the construction of this fortress. It is a great place to overlook the old city and take panoramic photos.
·
📍Thirty Cross Sculpture:
Located on the Thirty Cross Mountain, the scenery along the way is beautiful in autumn. It is also suitable for overlooking the cityscape, but there are more young people who come here for hiking and running.
·
📍Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania:
Currently, it is a museum that witnesses the history of Lithuania, but many people say that the collection in the museum is not abundant. For those who do not like to visit museums, they can take photos outside.

💚Transportation💚
It is recommended to take a taxi or walk in the Vilnius city center. The old town is very small and most attractions can be reached on foot. If you want to take a taxi, note that Uber is not used locally. The Baltic States (Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia) all use Bolt for taxi services.

❤️Eat❤️
Lithuanian cuisine is mainly based on large fish and meat, and the cooking methods are relatively simple, so it is unacceptable for someone like me with a Sichuan stomach. However, many supermarkets here sell Southeast Asian seasonings, so those who want to eat spicy food can consider it.
silas.atticus.winterbourne The imposing Vilnius Cathedral is the most charming religious centre in this small Eastern European town and the most romantic landmark in the city. A clean white appearance, six huge stone pillars stand in front of the main hall. Right in front of the church, there is also a tall white tower, above the black tower, a cross stands upright.
Walk by the Vilnius Old Town, it takes only a few minutes to reach the Church Square. Vilnius Cathedral is located in the heart of the entire square. This imposing cathedral, the most fascinating exterior, is the three statues on the front. The goddess of Santa Ana in the middle holds the sacred cross. On the left side of St. Stanislav and the right side of San Casilas, overlooking the church, you can see three majestic statues, and feel the power of divine greatness.
This church is also one of the oldest churches in Vilnius. As early as 800 years ago, a wooden church was built here. Later it was converted into a more spectacular Gothic church. However, the church was unfortunately destroyed by the war. Today's church is where people built the imposing Baroque church today.
This great church, conservative and hardship, has been rebuilt and finally ushered in today's glory and prosperity. Walking into the interior of the church, it is extremely magnificent, showing many ancient watercolor murals, which are very magnificent.
This is not only the central place for people's religious activities, but also the beautiful wishes of the people. After many hardships, we will welcome the beautiful life today. The Vilnius people know how to cherish.
Vilnius University Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
There are many churches in the old town of Vilnius, and the orange-red roofs rise and fall. There will be hot air balloons in the summer sunset. The observation deck that climbs up the height is a great choice to enjoy the scenery of the old city. Next, I will take stock of some of the photography attractions that can take postcard-level photos.
(1) St. John's Church Bell Tower, Vilnius University: This is a superb observation deck overlooking and photographing the 360-degree view of the Old Town. If time is limited and you are unable to visit the Vilnius University campus and St. John's Church, you can only purchase the independent tickets for the clock tower. On the top floor of the clock tower, the scenery of the old town of Vilnius is just like a brilliant picture.
(2) Vilnius Cathedral Bell Tower: This was once part of the Vilnius Wall Defense System. Today, the 57-meter-high clock tower has become one of the tallest buildings in the city. Admire the top floor of the clock tower, overlooking the old town, or take a close look at the sculptures on the threshold of the cathedral.
(3) Gediminas: This is the oldest part of Vilnius. It has been the center of Lithuania's political rights since the rulers of the Jagiello dynasty built the castle here. Nowadays, although the past prosperity has become a glimpse of the past, it is still the most visited place to visit, because the Vilnius city scenery at sunset is really beautiful.
In addition to this, there are other viewing platforms such as the Three Crosses, the TV Tower, the Bernardine Church Bell Tower, the Subaiaus Street Observation Deck and the Tauras Mountains, and recommend time travellers to explore.
The beautiful Vilnius University is not so much a school, it is more like a beautiful garden. From the beautiful teaching building to the densely populated campus, it is filled with bright colors and immersed in a romantic atmosphere.
The university is closely adjacent to the old town of Vilnius. The two are naturally connected. After visiting the quaint old town, you can walk to the university campus. Compared to the quaintness of the old city, the architecture of the university is equally low-key, but it reveals more modern and gorgeous colors. Coupled with the many young people living here, the entire campus is more vibrant and full of life.
This is a long-established school, built in the 16th century, has a history of nearly 400 years, witnessing the historical changes of the entire city. The school's architecture, which combines Gothic architecture, Baroque architecture, and the Renaissance and other styles, creates a dazzling view and is definitely a visual feast of architecture. Next to the school, there is also the lively Vilnius Cathedral Square, as well as the ancient pedestrian street of Billes and the milky presidential palace. The entire university is surrounded by many great scenery, and it is a favorite of thousands.
With the charming autumn colors, strolling through the school's trails, the uncles on both sides are towering, the white houses are dotted with them, and the beautiful reliefs on the upper floor of the building, the energetic students are free to walk through. All of this makes people feel the unique romantic atmosphere of this university.

Vilnius VNO Airport, Lithuania
Don't let the exterior fool you, the airport in the capital city of Lithuania, Vilnius, is an efficient operation with all the comforts of modern interiors but looking much like a Soviet-era train station. lovely place to fly into and out of, and gives character to every trip I make there. Also has an excellent lounge for Star Alliance Gold travellers, do remember check in opens 2 hours before flight departure time. #vilnius #lithuania #baltics
