The Takao-Inari course is also recommended for beginners

2022.8.29 Cloudy with occasional sunny spells I went to Mount Takao, a classic low mountain in Hachioji, Tokyo. It takes about 2 hours by train from Fujisawa in Kanagawa. If you take a direct train from Shinjuku, you can get there in 1 hour! Mount Takao has several courses based on difficulty, but this time I tried the most difficult "Inari Course". The trailhead is just to the left of the cable car station, a 5-minute walk from Takaosanguchi Station. There are many well-maintained paths and it is easy to walk, but there are also slippery rocks, so hiking boots are a must. (All the climbers on this course were wearing hiking boots.) The course took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to climb and about 50 minutes to descend, which was faster than expected! ! There were few people in the early morning, and I was soothed by the trees and the birds singing. After descending the mountain, I went to the Takao Museum and returned to Takaosanguchi Station at 11:00, but at this time there were many parents and children and elderly people.
