Peace & Pines in the Middle of Tokyo

#springitinerary Meiji Jingu is the ultimate Tokyo plot twist. One minute you're in the buzzing madness of Harajuku, the next you’re walking through a giant torii gate into a peaceful forest that feels miles away from the city. No joke, this place is pure zen. Built in 1920 to honor Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, it’s got major spiritual vibes without being overly flashy. The path to the shrine is long, shady, and lined with towering trees (like, actual forest energy). You’ll probably see locals doing traditional rituals, writing wishes on wooden plaques, or even a Shinto wedding if you’re lucky. The main shrine is simple but beautiful, and everything feels calm and respectful. No loud crowds, no neon, just fresh air, tradition, and a reset for your brain. If Tokyo ever gets overwhelming (it will), this is the perfect chill-out escape. Quiet, cool, and kinda magical.
