Tokyo's Springtime Romance: Chidorigafuchi

With so many cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo, if I had to choose just one, it would undoubtedly be Chidorigafuchi. It's not just because of its beauty, but also the poetic tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. Located on the northwest side of the Imperial Palace, Chidorigafuchi is a pathway that stretches along the moat. The waterway isn't particularly large, but its shape resembles a thousand birds spreading their wings, which is said to be the origin of its name. The area is surrounded by cherry blossom trees, but unlike the crowded Ueno Park or Shinjuku Gyoen, this spot offers more space to quietly embrace the spring season. I took the subway to Kudanshita Station, and after a few minutes' walk, I arrived. Chidorigafuchi is divided into two sections: one is a greenway perfect for a leisurely stroll, and my favorite part is the boating area (Chidorigafuchi Boat Arena). The weather that day was pleasant, with gentle sunshine and a light breeze. I rented a small boat for about HK$52 per half hour or HK$104 per hour. Rowing on the moat, surrounded by cherry blossom reflections, with petals gently falling onto the water, and the boat swaying slightly with the ripples, felt like stepping into a dream. If you have time, it's best to come early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Although there might be a bit of a wait, once you're on the boat, paddling through rows of blooming cherry trees, you'll feel it was all worth it. At that moment, I thought to myself, if only I had a cup of plum wine or sake in hand, it would be absolutely perfect. This isn't a place where you need to worry about taking the perfect photo—every shot will be stunning. What I cherish more is the sense of finding a peaceful corner in the heart of the city. The romance of spring is as simple and genuine as Chidorigafuchi.
