Enjoy Afro Folk Art at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo!

I visited Tokyo for the first time in a while for a friend's wedding. When it comes to Tokyo, I'm always excited about the latest art exhibitions. On this day, there was an exhibition by Theaster Gates, the creator of Afro Folk Art. In Japan, folk art is often associated with figures like Sori Yanagi, but it refers to works created by ordinary people rather than artists. The range of works is vast, including everyday items like bowls, glasses, and chests. Gates came to Japan to study Seto ware in Nagoya and created a world of Afro folk art while crafting a fictional history.
