Tokyo, Japan - Shinzo Abe's favorite Italian restaurant: La Bettola Da Ochiai

The only restaurant on this trip to Tokyo that requires a prior reservation: LA BETTOLA da Ochiai Italian cuisine. Don’t underestimate this small restaurant in the alley of Ginza 2-chome. It is said to be a favorite shop of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. It has also been recommended by Michelin many times. I took a quick look and it has been recommended four times! This alley across from Kyobashi Park has two popular stores with very different styles. One is a fried sandwich with fruit filling in the style of Internet celebrities #age3, and all the people queuing up are young girls; the other is Italian cuisine #labettoladaochiai, and all the people on the scene are dressed as gentlemen and ladies, and all of them have made reservations and are queuing up for entry. La Bettola offers authentic Italian pasta. The set menus include two-course and three-course meals: appetizer, pasta, and main course (the difference is whether there is a main course or not). The prices range from over $400 for one to over $600 for the other. The set menu provides refillable bread, but drinks and desserts must be ordered separately. I had just had a very full breakfast, so I chose a two-course meal. For the appetizer, I chose a platter with 7 kinds of appetizers, including 2 types of ham, cheese, tomatoes, seasonal vegetables, mushrooms and eggs, and then drizzled with olive oil to enhance the flavor, forming a beautiful color palette. The various flavors are harmonious and unique. For pasta, I chose cream spinach and salmon pasta (I saw many people ordered sea urchin pasta). The creamy white sauce was rich and not greasy, which was the finishing touch. Paired with smooth thin noodles, salmon, wild mushrooms and spinach, the taste was very Italian and the performance was quite good. I also ordered a glass of white peach sour to go with it, which I thought was pink wine at first glance! Finally, I ordered some pudding. I have to say that Italian cuisine also pays great attention to plating. The small pudding is served on a large plate. The taste has an adult-like bittersweet flavor, and the texture is dense and solid. It tastes good. The whole meal was a good experience, the taste and cooking were solid, the service was also commendable, quite neat but very considerate. However, the disadvantage is that you need to make an appointment for famous stores. Fortunately, you can make a reservation online, otherwise it will be difficult to get a seat on site.
