Checked in at the Miraikan - The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation

The Miraikan is a facility that brings together Japan's wisdom and technology, offering an eye-opening experience. The building has 8 floors above ground and 2 below, with a total area of 8,881 square meters. It features exhibitions on natural knowledge about the Earth, displays of new technological civilizations, and many environmentally related exhibits. The museum's themes are based on four main topics: 'The Earth's Environment and New Frontiers,' 'Technological Innovation and the Future,' 'Information Science and Technology and Society,' and 'Life Sciences and Humanity.' It introduces visitors to cutting-edge science and technology through various interactive displays, such as observing DNA with a microscope and virtual trips observing Earth from a space shuttle, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the wonders of life and the ingenuity of new technology. The museum's signature exhibit, 'Geo-Cosmos,' was created based on the desire of Japanese astronaut and scientist, the current director of the Miraikan, Mr. Mamoru Mohri, to 'share the beautiful Earth as seen from space with more people.' 'Geo-Cosmos' is a spherical display with a diameter of 6.5 meters, embedded with approximately one million LEDs, suspended high on the 6th floor. It can simulate the Earth, the Moon, and various planets based on satellite data. In addition to exhibits, the Miraikan also houses two high-tech theaters (one is the GAIA dome theater where you can enjoy panoramic images and celestial phenomena, and the other is a VR theater that simulates hypothetical space questions), as well as laboratories, an international conference hall, a restaurant, and a shop.
