As such, the enshrined deity is Amaterasu Omikami, the sun goddess and ancestor of the Imperial family, just like Ise Jingu Shrine. It is a popular shrine that attracts worshippers from all over Japan, as it was the first shrine in Japan to hold a Shinto wedding ceremony there.
