Climbing Mount Ramelau, the highest peak in Timor-Leste

I climbed to the top of Mt. Ramelau, the highest peak in Timor-Leste, with an elevation of 2,963m. After a three-hour bus ride from the capital Dili, I arrived at an intersection near Maubise. The only road in this area is a straight line, so the local word for intersection, "simpang," is a proper noun. From there, I changed to a motorbike and drove 1.5 hours on a rough road to Hatbiliko at the foot of the mountain. After a nap at the hotel, I set off at 3am, and after a smooth climb, I reached the summit just after 5am. After waiting for an hour and a half, freezing from there, it was finally time for sunrise. There were only three groups of climbers that day, including myself. I was able to monopolize the beautiful scenery with a few parties. I ran down the mountain, so it only took about 40 minutes to reach the trailhead. From there, I hitchhiked several times and was able to return to Dili that same day. It seems that there is a possibility of getting lost, so don't forget to carry a GPS and map. It was recommended to take a guide on the Lompula tour. #Mountaineering
