Check in at Tianjin Binhai Library || Binhai Library, officially known as the Tianjin Binhai New Area Cultural Center Library, is a modern library located in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, China. The library is famous for its unique architectural design and rich cultural atmosphere. It is known as one of the "coolest libraries in the world" and was selected as the "top 100 places to visit in the world in 2018". The library was designed by the Dutch MVRDV architectural design firm in collaboration with the Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute. Its design concept is "Binhai Eye" and "There is a way to the book mountain, and diligence is the path". The building itself has a building area of 33,700 square meters, 6 floors above ground, a height of about 29.6 meters, a designed collection of 1.2 million books, and 1,200 reader seats. The atrium design of the library is very eye-catching. It uses perforated aluminum plates combined with color printing technology to create the shape of a "book mountain". The real and fake books complement each other, reflecting the connotation that books are the ladder of human progress. In the center of the atrium is a spherical multifunctional lecture hall with a diameter of 21 meters. The surface is covered with 440,000 LED lights, which can display various patterns and texts. In addition to the collection in the atrium, the library also has multiple reading areas, including Chinese book reading areas, Chinese newspaper reading areas, foreign language book reading areas, special literature reading areas, and citizen study spaces. In addition, special reading service areas for minors and reading areas for the elderly and visually impaired have been set up. The third floor is the basic collection area, with 24 categories of books such as literature, history, economics, politics, astronomy, and medicine. Binhai Library not only provides rich reading resources, but also allows readers to easily handle ID registration, book borrowing and returning, information retrieval and other smart services through self-service equipment and Internet services. Citizens can directly register for a reader's card with their ID card, and borrow books by converting it into a QR code through their mobile phone. Each reader's card can borrow 8 books at a time, and the borrowing period is 30 days. The library is open from 10:00 to 21:00 every day, except for Monday morning.
