Pathfinder Episode 47: Tanggu's Off-the-Beaten-Path Skewer Feast

Departing from Beijing, heading to Tanggu. Designed a self-driving route that connects several lesser-known attractions, catching them all in one day. In total, about 350 kilometers, perfect for a weekend trip. 🌸 First stop: Abandoned church on Lele Island, see photos 1, 2, 3. It's located just a few hundred meters from the southeast gate of Lele Island on Zeshui North Road. Articles online call it a church, but I think it was probably originally designed to be a small concession stand for the two viewing platforms at the location, and it doesn't look very dilapidated. Still, it's good for taking portrait photos. 🌸 Second stop: Abandoned for over a decade, the Guanghua Experimental School. From the church, locate the Fisherman's Wharf, and enter Tuanbo Road from Central Street. Not far along, on the left-hand side, you can see it, photos 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. The school is large, with architecture that incorporates European styles, including many Roman columns and carved decorations... Now, the main building has been turned into a chicken farm by locals. 🌸 Third stop: Fisherman's Wharf, photo 11. There's supposed to be a seafood market here in the morning, but by the time I arrived after noon, there wasn't a soul in sight. If you're not looking to get up early to buy seafood, it's not worth the trip. 🌸 Fourth stop: Gaoshaling International Seaside Bathing Beach, abandoned, no photos. The location is at the Sea Defense Road Construction Monument! But because I didn't know the exact address beforehand, I missed the exit on the closed Seaside Avenue. I'll wait for warmer weather to explore it next time. 🌸 Fifth stop: Roman columns, locate Xuefu Garden, photos 12, 13, 14. 🌸 Sixth stop: College Specimen Room, will write a separate exploration diary later. This is the last of its existence, the college is about to deal with it and strengthen the closure of the buildings, so don't bother remembering it. 🌸 Seventh stop: Abandoned iron ship, the last four photos. Locate Jingmen Wharf Gate, then go forward about 400 meters from the location point, turn right into the iron railing gate to see the abandoned ship by the water. It's best to arrive before sunset, the warm glow of the setting sun gives a profound sense of the passage of time. 🌸 Eighth stop: Hangu Seafood Street, no photos. Without going into detail, at least the oysters are much cheaper than in Beijing, where one costs six yuan and you get about seven or eight per kilogram. Here, it's 15 yuan for two kilograms. After dinner, it's a direct three kilometers to the highway back to Beijing. Stomach full, spirit content.
