Wat Phiphitthamongkhon

Wat Phiphat Mongkhon is located in Thung Saliam District, Sukhothai Province. It belongs to the Mahanikaya sect and is about 3 kilometers from the Thung Saliam District Office. It is one of the important temples in the province. Originally, this temple was an abandoned temple in the middle of a rice field. It is assumed that it was a temple about 700 years ago. There is no historical evidence, but only the foundations of the ordination hall and the ancient pagoda were found, which were submerged about 1.50 meters underground in the center of the temple at present. Wat Phiphat Mongkhon is well known throughout the country and even abroad. It is considered one of the most famous religious sites in Thailand. It is also a place for studying Buddhism and a place for nature tourism. Luang Por Phra Khru Worakun Prayut, Phra Ajarn Phiphat Mongkhon, the abbot and abbot of Thung Saliam District, founded the temple and developed many permanent structures that are considered unique and exquisite in the ancient art of Lanna Thai in this temple, such as the glass house chapel, the Lanna temple, the study area of ​​​​Pali, Dhamma, development and practice, and the golden Buddha image in the Sukhothai period art that is enshrined and famous. It has been famous along with the temple and Sukhothai province for a total of 26 years on an area of ​​119 rai of the temple.
