They have been building their own huts on top of this water surface for at least a century. They travel by boats and row them with their feet in an interesting manner. The place is known for its astounding weaving industry! Their locally made textiles can range from $50-$100. Considering how this is culturally maintained and the hours it took, it’s somewhat normal for tourists but is a luxury for locals. You can get to Nyaung Shwe, the nearest town by land and take off from there to reach the heart of the village. It takes about 1 hour by boat and the views of the mountainous terrain in somewhere so untouched by human inventions is truly astonishing! There are local sellers with boats that sell you snacks for the birds. They will fly near you for some food! There’s a popular Pagoda in town with many other popular places like a traditional clothing store, silver gadgets, etc. A day is enough but you can also choose to stay at a luxury hotel that overlooks the lake too!
