Tateyama is located in Chiba Prefecture's Uchibo region, so if you're visiting by car from the northwest or north, we recommend taking the Higashi-Kanto Expressway Tateyama Line. You can also enjoy a drive along the Uchibo region by taking Prefectural Route 163 from the Bayshore Route, which runs from northwestern Chiba, and then the Uchibo Nagisa Line, which takes you along the coastline. To get to Tateyama by train, the JR Uchibo Line, accessible from JR East's Chiba Station, is very convenient. If you take a local train bound for Tateyama or Chikura, you'll arrive in Tateyama in about 1 hour and 40 minutes (fare: 1,520 yen).
