Takayama: a mountainous city still preserving the best traditional Japanese culture

#cityplaybook Takayama is a city in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu Prefecture. The city is famous for its Takayama Festival, which has lasted for at least the mid-1600s, celebrating spring and autumn with magnificent parades. In its historical streets, you can visit the old buildings and shops, tasting the fantastic food such as Hida beef. It is also a base for hiking, skiing, and relaxing in onsen hotels. It is definitely worth a visit if you like Japanese culture.
