The lonely and magical world of Chang Gou Catholic Church in Taiyuan

‘Sacred Heart of Jesus Church’ 📍Located in the low-lying area of Chang Gou Village, Xinghualing, Taiyuan, this abandoned church is not a tourist attraction, so it took a while to find it. The church was built in 1921, with a bell tower as high as 28 meters, in the Gothic style. Due to the collapse of the ground caused by local coal mining, it was forced to stop using it in 2009 and a new church was built not far away. The main building of the church still exists, like a mysterious ancient castle ⛪️, but the back is seriously damaged. ✨Only two spires can be seen on the horizon, and you have to walk to the edge to see the main body from top to bottom. Although it is damaged, its magnificence is still shocking and oppressive. 🛣Winding down the dirt road to the church gate, the road is overgrown with weeds, and there are several dilapidated houses around. When I arrived, it was almost dusk, and the church was half bright and half dark, exuding a mysterious solemnity. There was no one there, and I was a little scared after staying for a long time, so I left before the sunset.
