Walking through the mountains and seas of Lanyu, the most unforgettable moment for me was the sunset at Badai Bay. Located on the western side of the island, this open area offers a perfect spot to witness the meeting of the sunset and the Pacific Ocean. In the evening, I sat quietly by the shore as the golden sun slowly sank below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and red. The sea shimmered with warm light, and it felt as though the entire island had fallen into a serene silence. The locals say Badai Bay is a place for those who seek tranquility—a spot for daydreaming, reflecting, or simply holding hands with someone you love, watching the sea without uttering a word. Occasionally, a few traditional wooden canoes glide by in the distance, resembling shadows of time. If you ever travel to Lanyu, consider reserving an evening for Badai Bay.
