From the observation deck, the entirety of Taipei unfolded beneath us. From the contours of Yangmingshan to the winding Tamsui River, the city's pulse and the boundaries of nature were laid bare. Standing on the outdoor observation deck on the 91st floor, we felt the pressure of high-altitude winds and gained a deeper appreciation for how this skyscraper withstands storms and gales. ➡️ The Marvel of the Wind Damper Guided by a tour leader, we visited the golden wind damper located between the 87th and 92nd floors—a massive sphere weighing 660 tons and measuring 5.5 meters in diameter, suspended right before our eyes, reminiscent of a movie’s energy core. When the building sways due to strong winds or earthquakes, the wind damper moves in the opposite direction to absorb energy and reduce oscillations.
