Explore Yangmingshan in Taipei and indulge in the joy of hot springs

Yangmingshan, located in the Datun volcanic area of Taipei City, was formerly known as Caoshan. It was renamed to commemorate Ming Dynasty scholar Wang Yangming. The hot springs here are one of Taiwan's four major hot springs, primarily featuring white sulfur springs, followed by green sulfur springs, which are known to provide relief for chronic arthritis and muscle soreness. The hot spring source in the front mountain is located on the eastern slope near Zhongshan Building. The water supply is abundant year-round, with temperatures exceeding 70°C. After being channeled through ceramic pipes into residences, the temperature slightly drops to around 68.5°C. In front of the Zhongshan Building parking lot, there is a sulfur vent where the water temperature is only 48°C due to the mixing of cold water. The water appears milky white and is mildly acidic. Additionally, the Front Mountain Park has public baths with separate facilities for men and women, requiring only a small cleaning fee for use. The park also features several hot spring pools for visitors to soak their feet and relax. Besides the public baths, nearby attractions include Yangmingshan Park, Zhuzihu, and Qingtiangang. The Rear Mountain hot springs are located in the Zhongxing Guesthouse within Rear Mountain Park. This area is a specially controlled zone, and general access is restricted. Apart from private residences utilizing the springs, there are currently no public bath facilities. Furthermore, the surrounding area offers attractions such as Zhuzihu, Qingtiangang, and Datun Nature Park, where visitors can enjoy the charm of natural scenery and taste local mountain produce like jade cabbage and wild sweet potatoes.
