It was built in 1915 and imitates the ancient Greek Doric architectural style of the Renaissance period. The central dome tower is nearly 30 meters high. Because the National Taiwan Museum is a partner of the Love Taiwan Museum Card, holders of the "Love Taiwan Museum Card" can enjoy free admission to all nine museums (19 parks) in Taiwan. This is also the seventh exhibition hall our family has visited using the museum card, and we have visited it from south to north. The National Taiwan Museum (main building) features natural history collections. In addition to irregular exhibitions, it also has permanent exhibition areas divided into the "Taiwan Biological Exhibition Area" and the "Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Exhibition Area." The "331 Earthquake" on March 31, 2002 also shattered the museum's parapet and the stained glass on the dome, and the museum was closed for a long time for reinforcement and repair work.
