Visit the Kaizhang Shengwang Temple at Bishanyan

#2月好去地方2025 Bishanyan Kaizhang Shengwang Temple is located on Bishan Mountain in Neihu. The temple enshrines Chen Yuanguang, the national hero who founded Fujian, and his two subordinate generals, Li Boyao and Ma Ren. Chen Yuanguang opened up the Zhangzhou area in Fujian Province in the late Tang Dynasty and was regarded as the patron saint of the people of Zhangzhou, and was honored as the "King of Zhangzhou". Kaizhang Shengwang Temple is a large temple in Neihu, and Bishan is regarded as a sacred mountain in the hearts of Neihu locals. Legend has it that when a man named Huang from Zhangzhou Prefecture crossed the sea to Taiwan with his family to open up new land, he saw this as an auspicious place, so he hung the incense he was carrying with him in the stone cave, worshiped, and then left. Later, bandits were rampant in the area below the mountain, robbing houses. In 1751, when the bandits were planning to attack the top of the mountain, they suddenly saw a sharp edge on the top of the mountain. It turned out that the sacred stone on which the incense was hung at that time was split into three. The middle stone was the Holy King, and the stones on the two sides were Generals Li and Ma. The surrounding scattered stones rolled down the mountain, causing the bandits to abandon their weapons and flee. Upon hearing the news, nearby residents came here to worship, and indeed, the gods blessed them, so they built a small stone chamber temple.
