The Former Nan Cai Yuan Japanese Dormitory Cluster of Taiwan Bank

This dormitory cluster was originally the dormitory cluster of the Taiwan Bank during the Taisho period, which is now the dormitory for Japanese staff of the Taiwan Bank. There are currently five buildings remaining, which are designated as municipal monuments and are almost fully restored. To enhance visual permeability, the fences between each building have been lowered to 120 cm. The architectural features here include retaining the arched ventilation openings at the base, adding moisture-proof copper sheets to the foundation, preserving the copper lines on the roof ridge, and exposing the edge tiles. After a long period of restoration work, it is almost complete, and we look forward to seeing the restored appearance. Preserving such a piece of Japanese architecture in Taipei is a benefit of history.
