The appearance of Taipei's old district

📝 Taiwan Travelogue part3: Bopiliao Historical Block 📝 🎞🎞🎞🎞 Seeing the words 'Bopiliao' in Bopiliao Historical Block might make one's liver tremble, mistaking it for some World War II concentration camp site. In fact, Bopiliao is just the name of the best-preserved Qing dynasty street in this old district. 🖼🖼🖼🖼 As for why it's called Bopiliao, it's hard to trace back. It might be because this place was where tree bark was peeled, or there might have been a factory for processing animal hides, or it could simply be a result of various homophonic evolutions. In any case, it's a street that has nothing to do with being scary. 📷📷📷📷 The whole block is not very large, with a length of only about 300 meters. The buildings are still there, and some exhibitions have been set up. Perhaps because it was still the Chinese New Year holiday, many shops were not open. The surrounding area includes Longshan Temple and some old district markets. It feels like it's not particularly recommended unless one has a special sentiment for Mengjia. Visited on February 7, 2019
