Sisi Nan Village, a fresh market.

On the day I arrived on the island, I couldn't wait to drop my luggage, pick up my camera, and take the MRT to the Taipei 101 station. My goal was not to see Taiwan's tallest building, but to find the last remaining military dependents' village in Taipei, hidden in the bustling 101 commercial district. Following the signs after exiting the MRT station, I walked about 300 meters and found this paradise hidden among the high-rise buildings. It is located in the Xinyi District, the most prosperous and fashionable area in Taipei. As an important window to showcase the life of the military dependents' village, only one-tenth of the original village buildings are preserved in the form of the "Xinyi Civilian Plaza". When I arrived at the village, two tall banyan trees stood at the entrance, witnessing the changes of time. The former residents have long since moved away, leaving four rows of renovated bungalows open to visitors. The entire village has been restored to its original appearance, exuding a strong nostalgic atmosphere. The distance between the houses is only a little over one meter, very compact. Initially, they were all thatched mud houses, and later they were rebuilt into the current brick and concrete structure. The interior of the house is arranged exactly as it was in the past, with grocery stores, shops, living rooms, and other areas allowing visitors to experience the life of the military dependents' village in the 1950s and 1960s. Walking in the village, I could see the towering 101 building, where modernity and antiquity blend together in the same area, complementing each other. Tip: It is recommended to visit the shops in the military dependents' village, where you can buy some nostalgic souvenirs and decorations in the style of the old village. The decoration and display also follow the style of the old grocery store in the village, and the shops display posters from decades ago, which is very interesting to look at. On the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 13:00 to 19:00, there is also a small cultural and creative market and flea market. It attracts many young people to visit. If you are interested, you can choose to visit the Sisi Nan Village at this time. Sisi Nan Village Cultural Relics Museum.
