Tainan Slow Living Tour

I have visited Tainan multiple times and accidentally discovered a Christian bookstore and the Tainan Theological College and Seminary. Even if you are not a Christian, it is worth a visit. The seminary was initially established in 1869 by Dr. James Laidlaw Maxwell as a "Preacher Training Class." In 1876, Reverend Thomas Barclay merged it into the "Fucheng Academy." The institution experienced several closures due to wars. The current campus was built in 1903, and in 1948, it was renamed the Tainan Theological College and Seminary, which remains its name to this day. The courtyard between the chapel and classrooms features a central pond and cross-shaped pathways, evoking the ambiance of a European monastery garden. Additionally, the Taiwan Church Press is a Christian bookstore offering not only books but also various Christian-themed decorations. The spacious interior invites visitors to take their time and enjoy the atmosphere. In the evening, strolling through Fuchianli in the Central-West District, you’ll find many shops. Among them, a nostalgic dessert shop caught my attention. Sitting by the street and enjoying desserts there has its own unique charm!
