Taichung in a Day: Eating & Exploring Adventure!

Went on a one-day adventure in Taichung was nothing short of delightful, filled with good food, unexpected finds, and breathtaking sights. August was hot and humid! The journey began at the bustling Taichung Second Market known as 第二市场 where we made our way to the famous 山河卤肉饭 (Shan He Lu Rou Fan). The braised pork rice lived up to its reputation, richly flavored, comforting, and the perfect start to the day. Just a short stroll away, We chanced upon a hidden gem inside the park: 幸卉文学咖啡, a serene café with a literary atmosphere. Their specialty, a brandy-infused alcohol cake, was both indulgent and unforgettable. Next, we explored the whimsical Animation Lane, where colorful murals of beloved childhood cartoon characters brought back nostalgic memories. It was a playful stop, perfect for photos and a lighthearted break. From detective conan to Crayon shin chan to Chibi Maruko. One punch man to dragon ball and so much more familiar anime we know! From there, we head to the renowned Miyahara Ice Cream Parlour 宫原眼科, famous not only for its creamy, inventive ice cream flavors but also for its elegant, historic interior that resembled an old library (with abit of Harry Potter vibes too!) The highlight of the afternoon came thanks to a kind taxi driver, who suggested a detour to Gao Mei Wetlands. Watching the sun slowly set over the horizon, with the tidal flats glowing in golden hues, was a truly magical and serene experience that I’ll always treasure. As night fell, we ended our trip at the lively Feng Chia Night Market 逢甲夜市. The energy of the crowds, the tempting aroma of sizzling street food, and the endless variety of snacks made it the perfect dinner stop. From crispy fried chicken to refreshing bubble tea, it was a feast for both the palate and the senses. In just one day, Taichung revealed its charm through food, culture, and scenery.
