Lishan Jesus Church is more than just a building; it embodies the beauty of Taiwan's history, culture, and nature. Known as a "church in the clouds," it blends Gothic architecture, Aboriginal elements, and natural mountain scenery, offering visitors both a spiritual and visual experience. Located at No. 5, Fushou Road, Lishan Village, Heping District, Taichung City, at an altitude of approximately 2,011 meters, Lishan Jesus Church is currently one of the highest churches in Taiwan. Upon arrival at Lishan Jesus Church, one is immediately captivated by its tranquility and solemnity. The fresh air at high altitude creates a distinct atmosphere from the city as soon as one enters. The building itself embodies an elegant Gothic style, its white exterior appearing remarkably pure against the blue sky, symbolizing the purity and steadfastness of faith. Entering the church, the fragrant aroma of wood and the natural light filtering through the round windows create a tranquil and sacred atmosphere. The way the sunlight casts shadows on the floor truly creates a sense of "angelic presence." The Promise Terrace in the back offers expansive views of the mountains and sea of clouds, bringing peace of mind and letting go of worries. Thinking of the history behind this church, it's not just a symbol of faith; it's also a part of Taiwan's development and the memory of its time. Having survived earthquakes and desolation, its restoration, with its bells once again echoing through the valley, evokes a deeper sense of hope and rebirth. For me, the Lishan Jesus Church is more than just a tourist attraction; it's a place where I can find peace, converse with myself, and feel the power of heaven and earth and faith.

Lishan Hotel. A Visit to Chiang Kai-shek's Residence Traveling deep in the mountains along the Central Cross-Island Highway, at an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters, stands the majestic Lishan Hotel, the former mountain retreat of President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife. As the car slowly pulls into the complex of red-roofed, white-walled buildings, a sense of solemnity and curiosity arises within the traveler. This place, once a gathering place for political dignitaries, now opens its doors, offering a window into history. Tucked away within the hotel, Chiang Kai-shek's residence boasts an elegant exterior and interiors that retain their original appearance. The wooden floors reflect the patina of time, and the living room, bedroom, and living area all exude a 1950s atmosphere. Most striking is the boundless mountain vista beyond the window: Chiang Kai-shek gazed out from here, perhaps contemplating state affairs or seeking a moment of peace in the tranquility of the mountains. As the guide walks, travelers can see the bedroom once occupied by his wife, Soong Mei-ling, and the simple details of their home. Although this place was once a symbol of power, the space does not appear luxurious, but rather has the solemnity and coolness of a high mountain inn.

Lishan Hotel Accommodation. Mountain Travelogue Walking along the winding Central Cross-Island Highway, the mists gather and disperse. As the Lishan Hotel emerges from the mountains, it's as if I've stepped into another time and space. Once the residence of President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife, it's now a mountain inn where visitors can stay. The accommodations are nestled against the mountainside, their wooden corridors and window lattices bearing the marks of time. Opening the door, you're greeted by the unique tranquility of the deep mountains: the distant peaks shimmer golden in the morning light, and at night, a sky dotted with stars. The hustle and bustle of the city is absent, replaced by the sound of the wind, the rustling of pine trees, and the occasional chirp of birds. The nights here are exceptionally quiet. Sitting on the small balcony of the accommodations, brewing a cup of hot tea, the chill air intensifies the rich aroma. Thinking of past dignitaries and guests, who once contemplated and conversed in this same mountain breeze, I suddenly feel a sense of intertwining traveler and history. Waking up early in the morning, the trail outside the hotel was gently shrouded in white mist, creating a fairyland-like experience. After breakfast, I strolled along the path, and the Lishan air was filled with the delicate aroma of apples—a renowned local agricultural product. A stay at the Lishan Hotel is more than just a night's sleep; it's a journey of "sleeping with history and waking with the mountains." When travelers step out of the lobby and are once again confronted with the magnificent mountain scenery, they often feel a sense of peace and awe.

Lishan Tourist Service Center: Atayal Exhibition Located next to the Lishan Hotel in Heping District, Taichung City, the Lishan Tourist Service Center is a key base for visitors entering the Lishan area. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,950 meters, it is surrounded by mountains, offering fresh air and expansive views. The center features: • Tourist Information: Providing information on transportation, accommodation, hiking trails, and scenic spots. • Cultural Exhibitions: Exhibiting information on Lishan's indigenous peoples, agricultural development, and local characteristics. • Amenities: Offering recreational areas, food and beverage outlets, and a selection of souvenirs. Due to its high terrain, the Lishan area has been an important area of life for the Atayal people since ancient times. Land reclamation began during the Japanese colonial period, and later, thanks to the frequent residence of Chiang Kai-shek and his wife at the Lishan Hotel, it became a renowned mountain retreat and tourist destination. Today, the Lishan Tourist Service Center serves not only as a window for visitors to obtain information, but also as a "mountain inn," connecting past history with contemporary tourism. Stopping here, you can not only look out at the distant mountains and sea of clouds, but also feel the intertwined heritage of Lishan's "alpine culture and nature".

Lishan Jesus Church (Taiwan's highest church), built by former President Chiang Kai-shek Lishan Jesus Church, located next to the Lishan Hotel in Heping District, Taichung City, is one of the "Three Great Churches in Taiwan" built by former President Chiang Kai-shek. Originally built to accommodate religious services for dignitaries and guests visiting Lishan at the time, its exterior, with its distinct Western style, stands out among the towering peaks. Over the years, Lishan Jesus Church has ceased to be a dedicated church for receptions. It is now under the care of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan and continues to operate as a spiritual center for local residents and tourists. Designated a Class III historical monument (historical building) by the Taichung City Government, the church not only symbolizes the unique historical development of the Lishan area but also bears witness to the introduction of Taiwanese alpine culture and religion. Entering the church today, one can still feel its solemn and tranquil atmosphere. Sunlight filtering through the window lattices onto the wooden pews whispers the intertwined history of political and economic leaders and local communities. This mountain church, standing at an altitude of 2,000 meters, is not only a place of faith, but also an important mark of Lishan's cultural landscape.

"The Heavenly Goddess Above the Clouds"—A Visit to Tianlong Temple in Lishan Above 2,000 meters, the wind has already turned chilly, and the fog has thickened into wisps. I arrived in Lishan, ascending the winding mountain road to this sacred temple nestled in the mist—Tianlong Temple. Here, Mazu, the Celestial Mother of Heaven, is enshrined, and it is the highest Mazu temple in Taiwan. The temple is small, but its aura is expansive. Standing before it, the entire Central Mountain Range seems like her shield. The vast expanse stretches endlessly, only the sky, the mountains, and Her. The moment the incense smoke drifted, my heart calmed. In such a lofty place, worldly concerns seem lighter and more distant. Only the thoughts and sincerity of my prayers remain, clearly conveyed. I simply hope that on this path I walk, my feet will not slip, and my heart will not stray. May I not forget my original aspiration even in strong winds, and may I not lose my way even in thick fog.

"Majestic Mount Li, Protected by Lamu" I arrived here, a temple surrounded by golden dragons and red tiles. A golden plaque hung high in the main hall: "Main Temple of Mount Li Lamu Palace." This was no ordinary roadside incense offering, but a call from heaven—the summons of an ancient female deity, bringing me across mountains and rivers. A banner hung high in the temple, its yellow background in red lettering. The four characters "Mount Li Lamu" stood out with powerful clarity, their golden glow radiating the firmness and wisdom of a mother. A statue stood beside, solemn, its brows brimming with awe, yet a subtle, protective compassionate gaze radiating from its face. Mount Li Lamu, a mythological figure from ancient times...

🌸"Mother in the Mountains: A Visit to Ciyuan Temple in Lishan" Traveling north along the winding mountain road, the sun blazed brightly, yet also illuminated the sea of clouds and the peaks. Arriving at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level in Taichung's Heping Lishan, I stood at this lofty point where heaven and earth meet, paying homage to a tranquil and compassionate mother deity—the Mother Temple of Ciyuan Temple, the Wuji Yaochi Great Saint Xiwang Jinmu. The mountain breeze blew gently, the sun shone brightly on the temple grounds, and white clouds whispered in the distance with the mountaintops. The Mother Temple sits amidst a breathtaking expanse of views, facing the majestic mountains and nestled against the backdrop of Taiwan's spiritual mother mountain range—the Xueshan Mountains. The temple is not ornate, but it exudes a warm and steady aura, like motherhood—unassuming and unobtrusive, yet powerful enough to sustain all the fragility and prayers of heaven and earth. Entering the temple, I quietly lit a stick of incense, and a sense of indescribable peace settled within me. Looking up at the statue of the Mother Goddess, her face beckoning with compassion, she clutches a ritual instrument and wears a phoenix robe. Her demeanor is majestic yet not intimidating, instead conveying a gentle, inviting presence. As I depart, clouds shimmer in front of the temple, like phoenixes dancing across the sky. Looking back at the Mother Hall, a phrase comes to mind: "Mother is in the mountains, and the heart of Heaven is not far away." This trip to Lishan is more than just a scenic journey; it's a spiritual journey. #CiyuangongMotherTemple
