I originally held the mentality of "it's okay as long as I can stay", but I was deeply attracted by its details - the hotel is hidden at No. 17 Jianxin Lane, Gusu District. Pushing open the door of the hotel, the hustle and bustle of the downtown area is instantly isolated, and the first thing that impressed me was the "unconcealable" cleanliness in the public areas: the marble floor of the lobby is shiny, and even the skirting is dust-free; the wall lamps in the corridor are polished to a shine, and even the glass doors of the fire hydrants are free of fingerprints. A 3-minute walk from the hotel is the Pingjiang Road Historic District. During National Day, Pingjiang Road was decorated with small red flags, and the sweet aroma of sugar porridge wafted through the bluestone pavement. Hanfu shops along the river let you rent clothes for photos. Every few steps, you'll encounter boatmen rowing their sail boats, singing folk songs in the soft Wu dialect. Every photo you take is like a Jiangnan ink painting. Another 5-minute walk south brings you to Guanqian Street, where the aroma of the time-honored Lu Gaojian braised pork is tangy. You can buy a piece of sock-bottom pastry and eat it while walking, watching the lion dance performances on the street. The National Day is full of excitement. 🥩 If you want to avoid the crowds, there are many "niche treasures" around the hotel. A 10-minute walk takes you to Couple Garden. Compared to the more crowded Humble Administrator's Garden, this small garden here is more elegant. Walk through the winding corridors and sit by the waterside pavilion, watching koi carp swim by, with only the sound of wind rustling the leaves in your ears. For an artistic flair, turn off Pingjiang Road and into the alleys, where you'll find numerous handmade studios where you can paint a Suzhou fan or craft a small purple clay figurine, bringing home a piece of Suzhou's exquisite charm. In the evening, visit the Linton Road night market and buy some sweet taro sprouts with osmanthus flowers. Sit on a small street stool and watch the lights of the old city gradually come on. The warm, sweet atmosphere, shrouded in the atmosphere of everyday life, is truly soothing. Back at the hotel in the evening, the public areas become a relaxing haven. The lobby lounge area features bookshelves. Choose a book about Suzhou and enjoy a complimentary cup of Biluochun tea while you slowly flip through it. This attention to detail is more reassuring than any service rhetoric. The most fortunate thing about my National Day trip to Suzhou was choosing the right hotel—it was clean and comfortable, and I could explore the old town right from the doorstep. I didn't have to squeeze into the subway or rush, and could just relax and savor the beauty of Jiangnan.
