The luckiest thing to happen to me in 2025! I discovered this hidden gem of a Jiangnan water town, Lili Ancient Town. I would call it the most beautiful water town in Jiangnan! It has a history of over 2,500 years, and it still retains its original appearance, with ancient houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties, the smoke and fire of small bridges and flowing water, and more than 100 crisscrossing alleys... The ancient town is not very commercialized, and you won't find any of the usual tourist snacks like fried squid, stinky tofu, or grilled meat skewers. Instead, you'll find authentic local specialties run by local residents, such as tofu pudding, oil cakes, rice wine, and fresh meat wontons... This is probably why I prefer it here. It gives me a more authentic Jiangnan experience! I stayed in the ancient town for three days, but I still wanted more. 斜塘老街 - Came Suzhou a few times but this was the first time we visited 斜塘老街 and we really love it. It is not overly crowded and easy to walk around. There are many nice chinese restaurants, interesting tea houses, coffee places, little shops selling local snacks which are great for souvenirs too. Great place to do photo and video shoots. I stayed at this hotel near Guanqian Street in Suzhou. √ Close to Guanqian Street √ Walking distance to subway √ Great value for money CNY 200 for two people. Sisters coming to Suzhou can choose this hotel~~ Surrounded by attractions It's a five or six minute walk to the subway station Nearby attractions include Gusu Water Tour, Panmen, and Suzhou Ancient Canal. It's also not far from Guanqian Street and Pingjiang Road, just a ten minute bike ride away. Shantang Street is known as the "No. 1 Street in Suzhou." It has a history of over a thousand years since the Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi built it. Every brick, tile, bridge, and river here carries the memory of time. Xinmin Bridge and Tonggui Bridge are excellent photo spots. Exit from Exit 3 of Shantang Street Station on Metro Line 2, and walk 200 meters to see them. Standing on the bridge, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides. The lights turn on at around 5 pm in winter. At this time, the sun sets, and the blue sky and warm yellow lights complement each other, creating a full atmosphere. Take a boat ride for CNY 50 per person, operating from 8 am to 9 pm. As the boat slowly moves along the river, the night view on both sides is like a poem or painting, making you feel intoxicated.
