Mingyuewan Ancient Village, an ancient village in Suzhou that has not yet been commercialized, is located at the southern end of Xishan Island in Taihu Lake. Millennium Camphor The ancient camphor tree has a history of more than 1,200 years. The trunk on one side became a dead tree due to fire and thunder, but it relied on the new branches that grew later to maintain its life. The branches and leaves are lush and the overall shape is unique, just like a natural bonsai. 2. Stone Street The main road in the village is the stone street, which crisscrosses and forms a unique chessboard pattern. There are drainage ditches under the stone streets, reflecting the wisdom of ancient buildings. As the saying goes, "Mingwan Stone Street is like wearing embroidered shoes after rain", which describes the cleanliness and tidiness of the stone street. 3. Ancient Wharf The ancient wharf is the main channel for Xishan Island to communicate with the outside world. The construction period cannot be verified, but in the 21st year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1756), villagers raised funds for reconstruction. The pier is 58 meters long, 4.6 meters wide and paved with 256 granite strips. It used to be a busy place and the best place to watch the sunset over Taihu Lake.
