Mingyuewan Ancient Village

It is said that the ancient village of Mingyuewan got its name because King Fuchai of Wu and Xi Shi admired the bright moon here. Bai Juyi, Pi Rixiu and Lu Guimeng all visited here and left poems. The village has a beautiful environment and rich relics, and is well worth a visit. The village is full of clean and refreshing stone streets, which were built during the Qianlong period. There are drainage ditches under the streets, which can quickly drain water when it rains heavily and keep the road surface clean. Hence the saying "Mingyue Bay, wearing embroidered shoes after the rain". It is better than many of our current streets. Yugeng Hall, Zhanrui Hall, Lihe Hall, Deng's Ancestral Hall, Qin's Ancestral Hall and Huang's Ancestral Hall should all be Qing Dynasty buildings and are very well preserved. An elderly couple also lives in Yugeng Hall. They were very enthusiastic and proud to take me to visit their ancestral home, which made me feel embarrassed. I bought a bottle of their homemade pear paste candy, which I soaked in water and tasted pretty good. My favorite is the ancient pier. Just imagine how many comings and goings this long pier has witnessed. There were many people at the bridge, sitting on the edge with their legs dangling over the water, waiting to watch the sunset. It was quite a scene, but it was a pity that we only saw the sunset because we were in a hurry.
