Yipu is located in Wenyang Lane, Suzhou City, and currently covers an area of about 3,800 square meters. Its predecessor was the Zuiying Hall built by Yuan Zuge during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. After several changes of ownership, it was renamed Yipu during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The Yipu we see now was rebuilt after it was bought by a silk industry peer in the 19th year of Daoguang. The layout and gardening techniques of Yipu are concise, loose, natural and simple, and retain more of the style of Ming Dynasty gardens. The place where we are now is the entrance of Yipu. You can see the four characters 'City Mountain Forest' on the door lintel. This is the owner's positioning of Yipu and the owner's yearning for the wild interest of mountains and forests.
