Wat Suang Men, Phrae Province

Wat Sung Men is located in Tambon Sung Men, Yantrakit Koson Road, 10 kilometers from Phrae city center. It is located on the main road. Inside the temple, there are valuable and interesting antiques, including carved wooden Buddha images, Buddha images that can be disassembled, Wat Sung Men pagoda, Tripitaka in Thai and Pali, and the most complete palm leaf manuscripts in Thailand. Inside the temple, there are many religious buildings, including an ancient ordination hall in Lanna art, which is believed to be at least 200 years old. The structure is in the native Lanna style, while the native Lanna patterns are mixed with Burmese art. There are 16 pillars, lacquered in black and green, painted with gold vine patterns. Each pillar has a different pattern. The ceiling is beautifully decorated in Burmese style. The roof is covered with terracotta tiles. The pediment is carved in the shape of a pair of nasal fins, which is attractive to look at. The principal Buddha image in the ordination hall is Luang Pho To, which is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude. Wat Sung Men is believed to have been built during the flourishing period of the Lanna Kingdom (2100 - 2207 B.E.). There is no clear evidence, but it is believed to have been built during that period.
