Sucre sightseeing

#voyagevibes About 165 kilometres from Potosi, at an altitude of about 2750 metres, the ancient capital "Sucre" with beautiful white walls and red roofs. Sucre, which was lower in altitude than Potosi, where silver veins were found in the 16th century, was easier to live in, and Spaniards moved to town to manage silver. The "Bishop's Cathedral" and the "Royal Grand Inquisition" were located in the town, and a "white town" was formed with white-painted buildings centred on the central square. After independence in 1825, it continued to be the constitutional capital, but the actual capital function was transferred to La Paz. It is a valuable city that retains the colonial townscape that flourished with silver mines in the 16th and 18th centuries, and was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1991.
