Constructed over a span of more than four centuries, from 1015 to 1439, this cathedral was the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874, with its spire reaching an impressive height of 142 meters. The cathedral's façade is adorned with intricate sculptures and a magnificent rose window, exemplifying the Rayonnant Gothic style. Inside, visitors are captivated by the astronomical clock, a marvel of Renaissance engineering dating back to 1843. This clock not only tells time but also displays astronomical information and features a daily procession of the Apostles at 12:30 PM. For those seeking panoramic views of Strasbourg, ascending the 330 steps to the cathedral's platform is a must. At 66 meters high, it offers breathtaking vistas of the cityscape, the Vosges Mountains, and the Black Forest. Exploring the Musée de l'OEuvre Notre-Dame, located nearby, provides deeper insight into the cathedral's history, housing original sculptures, stained glass, and architectural plans.
